TV Junkie

I have a secret hobby. I'm a couch potato or to put it nicely, I'm a TV JUNKIE! I used to watch only dramas from Taiwan and HongKong when I was in Secondary school. That was where I picked up my broken cantonese. Then, I met Raymond and he introduced me to the world of fantastic shows from the USA. I did watch a few long long ago like Charm, Buffy and etc but I am very obsessed or you can say addicted to these shows that I'm going to show you below in the last few years.

Every Monday (USA time) which is Tuesday (Singapore time), I'll be able to watch the following three shows namely Gossip Girl, How I Met Your Mother and Bones.
I had actually read one of the Gossip Girl story books when I was in secondary school but it was only until 2009 that I started watching the drama. I can't remember who introduced this show to me but I'm so glad I'm still watching it now. I'm not exactly very impressed by the story line recently as it has really gotten quite boring with them scheming and doing the same things over and over again. I watched the show mainly to get fashion updates, makeup and hairstyles inspiration. Especially for Blair Waldorf, she is constantly seen with different hairstyles that are both very chic and wearable.

Next, one of my favorite comedy of all time - HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER!!!!! I like how the 5 of them hang out in a bar and have fun together. I especially love the character Barney Stinson. Why? Because he is simply Legend - wait for it - DARY!!!! HAHAHA! Raymond introduced this show to me and I have never missed an episode since 2009. Awesome show!

Bones is into season 8 already. It is something similar to CSI which I used to love but not so much recently. The interesting thing about this show is how it integrates love, friendship, crime, psychology and etc all together into this wonderful drama. Needless to say, I love the lead character, Bones, the lady in the blue dress. She is smart, witty and sometimes a little bit social awkward in the show but that is what makes her character flavorful. In the last episode, she was contemplating to run for Presidency!

Then on every Wednesday (USA time), Thursday (SG time), I get to watch another 2 fantastic dramas, Modern Family and Criminal Minds!
I only started watching Modern Family early this year after catching a few episodes at Delvin's place with the gang. This is a truly well-thought out and entertaining show. All the characters are so carefully crafted, they are all AMAZING! My favourite character is GLORIA! There was this particular episode that I can never forget. It shows how Gloria calls out to her husband Jay. Super funny!

My sister, BeiEr, introduced me to Criminal Minds. She watched it on AXN with my mom initially. I will never get sick of this kind of shows. I love to watch the process where they try to solve the case and in this show, they try to catch the unsub before he kills the victim. They're professional FBI's profilers who go to different parts of the States to help solve cases involving serial killers, mentally unsound unsubs and etc.

Then on every thursday (USA time), friday (SG time), I get to catch my favorite The Vampire Diaries, The Big Bang Theory and also Glee!
I have been watching TVD since it first started. I never missed any of the episodes every single week it is aired. Of course, my favourite character is Elena!!! She is so pretty and kind! She is now a vampire, no longer human, in this new season! It's so exciting!
I like this kind of fantasy stories which will never happen in real life. So, you can infer that I love Twilight and Harry Potter type of movies. It's like an outlet for you to imagine life with these mythical creatures. It's dangerous but exciting and exhilarating.

TA DAH!!!!! One more of my favorite Comedy!!! The Big Bang Theory! Again, Raymond introduced me to this funny show and I was hooked on to it instantly. Sheldon Cooper is indeed very amusing. In fact, all the characters are very funny in their own way. Personally, I think that it is a lot more difficult to craft out stories that are funny. From the last few comedies that I've talked about, all the characters, I MEAN ALLLLLLL the characters are all very well-thought out. They all have very distinct personalities that set them apart from the rest. Another f-ing AWESOME show that I can't miss!

Last show on Friday would be Glee! For this show, I'm more into their singing and not so much the story. They have many great voices in this drama and I really love many of them. Especially Rachel Berry, I was immediately drawn to her when she started singing. Awesome casts and of course, singing!

Then, for my weekend, sadly there's only 1 show but this is DA BOMBZ!!! (Sg time - Monday)
The Walking Dead is probably one of the zombie shows that I'm willing to watch. I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to ghosts and zombies shows. To me, zombies seem like something that might actually happen in real life since it's a mutation of the gene/DNA/whatever. I mean, scientists are really testing out stuff and who knows in one of the corner of this Earth, there are already many zombies (failed experiments) walking around. This new season is SMOKING HOT and EXCITING! I just watched the latest episode, Season 3 episode 1 with Raymond on wednesday. WOO! It shows how this group of people fight to survive during a zombie apocalypse and there's so many zombie killings in episode 1 already, I'm expecting more for the rest of the season.

In actual fact, I watch a lot more shows than this. Just that only these few shows are showing now. I was also watching Pretty Little Liars, Rookie Blue, Drop Dead Diva, The Client List..........so many I can't list every single one down but you get the point!

Other than US shows, I also watch shows from Korea! I am currently into this show called The 3rd Hospital. My sister said Soo Young (SNSD) was praised for her good acting in this show and hence, both of us are addicted to it now. I can't wait for episode 15 to come out soon!

This is one of those sad and heart wrenching korean dramas where you have the protagonist fighting with cancer or some other deadly illnesses. In this show, Eui Jin (above) has a brain tumor which is situated very deep inside her brain which makes it almost impossible to cure by surgery as there's a high chance of relapse. So, I'm guessing they might turn to oriental medicine (traditional chinese medicine) to help cure her. I'm not really sure how this show would go but I've been crying every episode ever since she found out about her brain tumor!

Just to show you what other Korean dramas I watched. I'm done with these 2 shows already. Korean dramas usually only have 1 season unlike the US dramas which can last for many many seasons.
This one is called the O-Jak-Gyo Brothers.

And this is the Korean version of an anime (hana kimi), To the Beautiful You.

I still watch some Hong Kong Dramas once in awhile when it's showed on cable TV.

The show ended on wednesday and I really like shows that are about imperial china. The acting skills of these Hong Kong actors and actresses are awesome. They always seem so natural in the show. If only our local actors can be like them. I might then consider watching shows on Channel 8 again. It's been years since I actually watched a Channel 8 drama. I can't even name the actors and actresses now. The last show that I watched from mediacorp that I can remember is probably Holland Village and that was like a gazillion years ago. Ok, maybe Little Nyoya, but I didn't watch all the episodes.

Yup, those are the shows that this TV Junkie is recently very very very "into" right now. I'm so addicted that I can forget about being hungry and all when I'm watching the shows. That's just how good they are. AWESOME x Infinity!

If there are other shows that are equally entertaining and awesome, let me know! I don't mind catching another show if they're not too long-winded like those auntie hokkien shows from Taiwan. hahaha.

Ciao! Have a great weekend!
