Melbourne Day 2

We woke up once the alarm rang to go return our tiny toyota corolla in the city instead of the airport to save time but incurred $35.
Hertz was rather near to Queen Victoria Market so we decided to brave the cold in summer (wwhat?!) 😂 and walked over just to look see look see.
R had a stomach ache (as usual) so we just entered a random cafe by the road and ordered a latte so he could use the loo. The latte turned out really nice. No wondet starbucks can't survive here.
Then, we took a uber to an apparently quite popular brunch place called Higher Ground for brunch. We met Jon for brunch too.
I ordered Spiced cauliflower scrambled egg. Omg. This is so nice. It has curry leaves and maybe some curry powder so it tasted a bit like when you're eating prata.
R had the Wagyu short rib roll. He said it was very tender but a little too salty. It's almost like a beef banhmi. He hated the bean sprout.
Both of us shared this avo smash with scrambled eggs. It was so good!
How can we not drink coffee in a cafe? I got a mocha and r had an almond latte. They were all very good.
Look out for this thing that says Higher Ground otherwise there's nothing else except for human beings queuing anf waiting to get in.

After brunch we went for some shopping because I didn't pack for a winter-summer lol. He wanted to go see 🐧 penguins at night and since it's beside the sea it'd be freezing. Then, to a asian supermart to get somr asian food and off we went to get our caravan.

This is our ride and home for the next week or so.
After about 1.5h drive, we were finally at the Penguin Parade 🐧 place to see some smallest 🐧 in the world.
We walked around the board walk before heading in to the beach where the 🐧 will surface to return home. We met this group of prc who were trying to get the attention of a wild wallaby by speaking in broken English really loudly as if the wallaby can understand.

Then, at another group that we met further up asked why the explanation printed doesn't have chinese version. What?! You're in Australia woman!
The penguins started streaming in at around 830pm and you're not allowed to take any photos with or without flash so law abiding Singaporean me did not take any photo. Lol.

R the rule breaker took a video. Hahaha!
It's really quite cold to sit on the beach and wait for the 🐧 to come so I suggest wearing wind breaker or even just bring a blanket. A binoculars will be good as well because the 🐧 might not be near to you when they come in which is the most interesting part because they kept getting washed up on shore then run back into the water.

After that you can definitely see them standing outside their burrow real close but they just stand there.
Just waiting...
After that we went back to the van and headed to our campsite for the night at Cowes Caravan Park. We cooked in the van and activated the smoke detector. Haha I panicked because I've never heard the sound of a smoke detector. 😂

Simple food but good enough.

Wilsons Promontory

Woke up late so couldn't go to mornington. But we managed to go Nobbies centre. The scenery was really nice. Seaside and all. Then we made our way to Wilsons Promontory, stopping by this random place that has a sign that says scenic lookout.
This is what you have to do when you're hiking here. There is simply way too many insects. It's driving me nuts.
We went for grocery shopping then off to Wilsons which we decided to hike up Mt Oberon. Best choice ever.

We saw a wallaby up close just at the entrance of the hike. So cute.
We expected the summit to be similar to Bukit Timah hill, flat land and all but NO! It's just rocks and one wrong move, byebye you're going to die.

I'm quite afraid of heights so I just found a spot that i found to be rather safe and sat there. A group of sgp girls came up and took photo for us. They were quite adventurous. Just 3 of them road trip Australia in a car that they rented. Maybe one day can do with my gf? @mightyjingyi@chasingwaterfalls? 😂
Some scenery along the hike. It was still quite cooling in the shade so it was ok climbing. It's not as steep as Bukit Timah but it's definitely longer.
Taking selfie and got photobombed. #dayretravel #ryzertrip
R doing his victory dance when he thought we were almost at the summit because we saw some telecom dish thingy.
But too bad, there were more steps to climb. Haha
The view is just spectacular. I think Rinjani is going to be better. Happy that we managed to squeeze in some training for Rinjani during this trip.
One last selfie before we descend. After that we just cooked dinner which included bbq pork chop which was so good!
More photos from R's camera. Nobbies centre.

Our campsite for tonight. I'm going to sleep soon. Got a 5.5hour hike tmr.
Chasing away the insects
We did one of our longest hike during a chillax holiday. We wanted to do the 5.5km one but forgo it for the 3.8km one that the pamphlet stated the difficulty as moderate.

While on our way to Darby River, we stopped by Squeaky Beach. The water was so cold.
We did not see anyone or any wildlife on our way up.
It was all worth it, not as worth is as 🗻 Oberon, when we reached the tongue point.
We were not alone when millions of houseflies attacked us throughout the hike. They were seriously fucking irritating. While maintaining my balance when going upslope and down slope, I also had to fan myself vigorously with my cap. They will stay on our bags and back relentlessly. We were like a train ride for them going somewhere.

I felt damn disgusting for them to land on me so I fan all the way. R couldn't care and had like almost 20 to 30 flies landing on him at any one time. Gross.
When we reached Darby River we thought it was going to be easy and we were ready to take on the day only to realise it's 4.8km one way to the Tongue point with up slope and down slope. What?!
Mandatory victory pose photos with the sign. Lol
After that we had a quick lunch before heading to Prom Wildlife trail and finally saw some kangaroos.
More kangaroos
Drove backwards, idk why, to Inverloch caravan park. We managed to get to the supermarket before they close to grab some stuff. Aussies have a shiok life, short working hours and high pay (I also want!)

Had a super awesome dinner and chilling outside the van. Tiring day indeed. Muscles started aching alr.
Ending the night with my ugly injured foot. I kept feeling pain in my big toe. I thought it was because the shoes were too hard but apparently a huge blister formed and burst while I was hiking. I tried to wrap it with plaster for our crazy more than 13km hike today and the wound got bigger. More skin was coming off. R has this sticky bandage tape thingy so going to wrap it so I can walk more.

Taking a nap now at some random place after 3h drive. I wanted to take a photo of me gg to dig his ears but accidentally poked him instead. Hahaha! This super funny photo was taken because I panicked when he moved. Hahahaha hahahaha
