Travel: Mongolia - Gobi Desert | Ancient Rock Drawings | Khongor Sand Dunes
We woke up at the crack of dawn to visit the mountain where they found ancient drawings. The ride was a few hours and we slept on the van. Not so used to waking up early haha
The mountain/hill/whatever was really steep and high. When I stepped out of the van, I was shocked.
To be real honest, we were expecting to see some real caves with ancient men's drawings/carvings on the wall but this was what we got. I guess it's our own misunderstanding. Still, it was really impressive.
It was real treacherous going down with my adizero. I should have gotten proper trekking shoes that allows me to climb mountains/do all these stuff properly. My poor little adizero died here because it was too slippery and timid me refused to lift up my feet while going down so I dragged my feet all the way hoping to feel closer to the ground and I guess, safer.
Then, it was another 4 - 5h drive till we reached the Khongor Sand Dunes. It was indeed impressive. Just the sand dune itself can fit at least 5 Singapore's length.
This was the only communal table we had throughout the Gobi trip and we had a wonderful dinner together with our new friends out here.
It is painful to sit in between the humps of the camel even for me, so sorry Raymond had to endure it. Poor thing.
There we began our 180m climb up the Sand dunes from the steepest part. How stupid? I didn't manage to finish the climb. It was really tiring. Be sure to exercise before you come for this trip so you can fully enjoy it. I was lazy and in fact really busy with work so I didn't exercise/prepare myself for this awesomeness. Ok, excuses....
Look at my pretty golden toe nails on the sand.
The 4 strong ones, ok maybe 2 strong French climbing their way up and 2 ok-strong Singaporeans spiderman-climb their way up. Lol. Seriously, every 3 steps I took, I slide back 2 steps because the sand was so so so soft. If you fall, nothing will happen. It's probably softer than your bed.
