Makeup: Blue Smokey Eye for Dinner and Parties
Get Ready With Me!
Yes, look at my crazy hair. I just got out of shower! It's always good to shower before you start on makeup/hairstyling. You feel refreshed and cool (literally). I prefer to do my makeup in an air-conditioned room because I won't perspire!
I was preparing to attend a friend's wedding. This was the before and after. I had a blue dress on so I went with blue smokey eyes.
After I blow dry my hair, not totally dry, I sprayed on Urban Decay's De Slick spray to help control oil secretion and so I can stay matte! Then I applied on my Benefit Porefessional to cover up those enlarged pores :( To keep my face shine-free (oily skin type here yo!), I used Makeup Forever's Mat Velvet +. I also applied my Makeup Forever's Full Cover concealer to hide those blemishes and scars. Lastly, before I set my face makeup with compact powder, I gave my face another good mist of the De Slick spray.
A filled in brow really do make a difference to the overall look. A fuller and softer brow makes you look younger. Thin and sparse brows increase your age. Just look at the difference between the two sides of my face.
1. Line the bottom of your lids with a blue liner (I used my catrice kohl kajal blue liner). Preferably one that is blendable. It will act as a base for your blue shadow to go on.
2. Smudge the liner out with a blue eyeshadow. Blend it to your crease line.
3. To make the look more wearable (not looking like some auntie going ge tai), use a matte brown shadow to buff out any harsh edges on your crease line (sockets)
4. Depending on the distance between your eyes, if they are far apart, use a darker shadow on the inner corners of your eyes, if they are closer, use a light shade.
I went back in with a little bit more blue shadow because the browns covered too much of the blue. To give it more depth, I also pat on some black shadow on the outer corners of my eyes.
To complete the eyes makeup, curl your lashes and give it a few coats of lengthening and volumising mascara. Here, I'm using my trusty Shu Uemura's curler (BEST!!!)
To complete the whole look, I applied Benefit's Rockateur and some bronzer. I was too lazy to put on fake eyelashes and adjust my asymmetrical number of eyelids. Just live with it, embrace the difference. Ahhh...bullshit. I ran out of time, that's why.
Yes. I'm actually out for an actual event and not just taking the makeup off right after I took pictures of it.
Till the next!
