Graduation Trip | Washington DC

We stayed at Washington Plaza Hotel which was quite near to McPherson Square Metro. We walked a lot while traveling in DC. The amount of walking done with the few days there was extremely crazy. I don't even know how to explain how much walking was done. Except when we take the metro back to the hotel, we literally walked the whole of Downtown DC visiting the many many museums. And what's attractive about these museums? Almost all of them are free! We didn't spend much in DC except for the rather pricey metro fare and food.

Another typical Just Look At It! photo. There are 2 churches near our hotels and I have to say that these churches' designs and architecture are awesome. Look at how nice it contrasts with the blue skies.

The first attraction we went was the Washington DC Old Post Office Pavilion. Basically what you can do is just get past the security, go all the way up and take photos like tourists. Yep! That's exactly what we did. HAHA

After which we walked over to the Smithsonian Museums and the place is just so so big. My legs were aching so badly by late afternoon already. Anyway, these are some cute photos by some really talented photographers exhibited in one of the many galleries there.

I especially love this photo of the Mama Giraffe and Baby Giraffe. It shows how the Mama is giving her support for the Baby to stand up. Look at how gentle their eyes are, nothing can compare to the care and concern given and expressed by Mothers even if it is just a gentle push from the back.

These are real Mummies and I can't help but look at these exhibit a bit longer than the rest. Isn't it amazing that the ancient Egyptians can achieve these accomplishments with out the help of modern science? I'm not saying I want to be mummified when I die but look at how well preserved the bodies are! No disgusting bugs crawling all over and eating away your flesh day after day.

This is actually a Baby Mummy.

Then, it's just walking walking and more walking. Once in a while we'll stop somewhere to snap a photo or two then that's it.

One thing good about traveling in a group would definitely be getting nice couple photos! I really love this photo a lot especially how my red coat contrasts with the green grass again! heehee!

We ended our day at a Seafood Market and a Chinese Restaurant after walking a gazillion mile!

Second day in Washington DC was spent visiting all the other tourist attractions which involved massive amount of walking again!

We visited quite a few places after the White House but did not take any photos at all. Just simply immerse ourselves in the beautiful scenes and wonderful architecture.

It started to rain after our last attraction at the Lincoln Memorial and we headed over to eat at Carmime's Restaurant which is a Italian restaurant. It was quite an embarrassing encounter because we wanted to leave the place when we saw the prices on the menu. Each pasta was almost USD$30+ and we weren't prepared to splurge so much on one single meal. Then, the waiter came over and told us that they serve family size portion and we do not have to order 1 pasta per person because we will not be able to finish alone. He also added that it's definitely cheaper than in SG. LOL! We have the SGP face! We didn't even say we were from SG and he sort of hinted. But true enough, the portions were extremely huge. It was a hearty meal and I would recommend you to go if you're there with a group of friends. Delicious, affordable and value for money for sure!

Crime Museum

Last day was more slack as we were going to go to New York in the evening and had to leave for the Bus Terminal at around 4pm.

We only visited the Crime Museum that day.

Some other places that we visited includes National Geographic Museum where we got in with student price :))

Overall, the weather in DC was better than in New York (IMHO). It was cold but not so cold that you have to cover your ears, noses, fingers and etc. I was still able to get around with my red trench coat which was a plus point. haha! You will see how I became a fat girl wrapped under 4-5 layers of clothing when I was in New York and Boston. LOL
