September Favourites
September Favourites
I had been thinking if I should have a blog post every month talking about my favorite beauty products that I've been loving for that month for quite some time. But I wanted to try the products for a few months before I decide if they were really good. So for the month of September, I had been so busy with school and tuitions which made the days past really fast. In a way, I'm glad it was passing so quickly :)
#1 beauty product that I've been using religiously over the past few months would be My Beauty Diary Cooling Mask and Hydrating Mask (I finished it, so no pictures). I usually use this cooling mask in the day before I put on my make up. It has this cooling feeling (obviously, it's call cooling mask) and really wakes my skin up. I didn't sleep well since school started so I have really tired-looking skin and this is my savior! I will be stocking this up really soon, at my last piece already. For the hydrating mask, I usually pamper my face with it during the night for about 20 mins. Then, I would slap on all the moisturizers and stuff. My skin feels really supple after the mask. I use the masks up to 4 times a week as these are affordable and not that nourishing that I can only use twice a week.
#2 beauty product of September would be the Cure Natural Aqua Gel. This is a gentle exfoliating gel which helps to remove the dead skin. Generally, I exfoliate my skin 2 times a week. I'd tried a few other brands but I really love this one. My skin brightens up every time I use it. It's retailing at $42 at Watsons which was considered quite steep for me initially. If you remember, I introduced an Artistry's Intensive Skincare Renewing Peel which costed me $125 for a 6-weeks regime. That was a real luxury. So, if you don't have that kind of money to splurge, I think Cure's good enough for a weekly exfoliation.
P.S. I use it on my lips, elbows and knees once a week. I know, expensive, but it's really good. So thankful that this was a present from R :)
How can I not talk about makeup right?! :D
#3 favourite makeup product of the month would be the Urban Decay De Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray! This is really DA BOMBZZ!!! I have really oily skin, probably the oiliest skin in my family despite how hardworking I am when it comes to skincare. I blame the genes and also the fact that I don't drink enough water which is causing my water retention as well. Ok, that's for another post.
I would spray this all over my face before I even put my primer and all over my face again after I'm done with all my makeup. It doesn't mess with the makeup and absorbs into the skin really fast. My face would usually look oily after about maximum 2-3 hours. With De Slick, it keeps the shine away for up to 5 hours! I bought this at Sephora when I was in the States. I'm guessing they also sell it here in Singapore? I'm not so sure. Maybe I'll hit the Sephora at Ion Orchard one of these days to check it out, otherwise, I would have to purchase it when I'm in the States at the end of the year.
#4 makeup favorite - Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express. I bought this during the Watsons Expo sale last year and haven't used it so regularly until the last few months. I have a thing for mascaras. As I'm not blessed with thick and full lashes, I am really thankful for this product!
The wand is so bendy which makes application very easy. The curved spooly brush ensures that all the lashes are evenly coated with a generous but adequate amount of the product. My lashes looks like they have gone from a Cup A to Cup C with this. I really love it.
#5 makeup favorite - Maybelline (yes, again) Lashionista. I bought this at the Maybelline event at Zouk back in August. I can't remember when exactly but I attended it with Jingyi. I bought it at $16 (i think) and I fell in love with it immediately.
It elongates my lashes a lot!!! I would love to show the before and after for this product but I haven't been putting on makeup these few days. I apply this after I use the Falsies so I get both volume and length. GREEDY! I know! But the effects of using both of this together is simply PERFECT! Another thing, both are so waterproof! I wouldn't find like black stains on my under eye at the end of the day like when I used the other products (shall not name them). I'm finishing both bottles soon and will be restocking it.
Tips: I use it before I put on falsies when I do makeup for clients so the real and fake lashes can blend together. After that, I would use a curler to curl them together to further enhance the effects so you won't have two separating lashes which looks really ugly from the side. This way, you can still keep and reuse the falsies after you remove your makeup. Saves money :))
#6 last makeup favorite - Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner. I have this eyeliner in 4 different colours, Silver; Gold; Pink; Blue. The colours are vibrant and I really love the effects they produce.
I recommended it to Annabelle, my makeup partner, and she's loving it as well! I love to put it on the inner corners of the eyes to bring the eyes to life. The glitters inside are very bright which means you don't need to apply a whole lot of it to get that *Bling Bling* effect.
The brush is pointy but very soft. It's very comfortable using it on the eyes and also gives you the precision you need. Sweet!
#7 Hair products that I'm loving recently would be the L'oreal Paris Fall Repair 3X Anti-Hair Fall Tonic. You might be wondering why am I using an anti-hair fall tonic but to be honest, I think I'm losing quite a lot of hair recently. Maybe because of the food I eat or the lack of sleep, etcetc. But this tonic is here to save me from getting bald:(
Oh, if you happen to tie your hair regularly, you may also find that the top two corners of your face, along the hairline, have less hair. That is because the weight your pony tail is causing strain to the roots of your hair. I love that this is a leave-in product so I save the hassle of washing it off. I use it once every two days after I wash my hair. I just put the tip of the opening along the scalp and squeeze a generous amount of the product. It has a cooling feeling which I love and it smells really good. Then, I would massage it in with my fingers gently. Do note that you should not use your finger nails to scratch you head. It's bad for your hair!
#8 hair product of the month - Organix Moroccan argan oil. Similarly, this is a leave-in product. It penetrates into the hair so quickly which nourishes my hair almost instantly. I've used other leave-in products but so far, this is my favourite! I use on towel-dry hair and go to sleep after my hair dries. And, I'll wake up to silky smooth hair. Yummy! I got it at Watsons as well, my one-stop shop for beauty products! I can spend hours there just walking, looking and checking out new products.
#9 last beauty product for September! My tommy girl perfume! I bought this in March with Serene at the Estee Lauder Sale. It comes as a gift set and I thought I would give it away as a present but NO! i'm using it myself and R loves this smell too. So, +++++pointsss!!!
The nozzle is the normal one. I actually switch my perfume according to my mood. I have a few others which I love as well but I am very obsessed with this now.
I hope you enjoyed this post. The products here may not be the most ATAS products you'll find but some of them are really good. Do give them a try if you're in need of any of the products. Though they may not work for you as well as they'd worked for me, I still love them!
Ciao!
