Halloween: Batman makeup pictorial tutorial

HELLO! It's been some time since I did a makeup pictorial tutorial. After I posted a photo of a batman eye makeup idea for Halloween on BehindTheScenes's Facebook page on Monday, I received quite good responses and decided to do a makeup tutorial on it. It may not be the exact replica since we don't have the same eyes and my eyes, sadly, full of flaws (fine lines, too short - not enough space, uneven).

Anyway, anyone can pull of this look. It's fun and easy to do! (Sorry for the unsightly pimples - school term = stress = outbreak) Just follow the steps below:

Bat eye look:
1. Use a small brush and black eyeshadow, draw the outline for the batman's wing. I find it easier to work with eye shadow as you can correct it easily. Unlike eye liner which will mess up the whole face if you draw wrongly.

2. After you got the outline, use a black eyeliner to go over the line and fill in corners. There's no need to be very careful or precise with the "coloring" as we'll smudge it later.

3. Use the same small brush, blend the black eyeliner out with a black eyeshadow. You can also take some grey eyeshadow to help you blend in as you reach the middle part.

4. Then, I applied a silvery cream eyeshadow as base for the inner part of my eyes.

1. Using a medium sized brush, apply a yellow eyeshadow on you eyelids by patting it on instead of brushing. By patting it on, it would be more pigmented and the colour be more vibrant.

2. Use a silver eyeshadow and blend the grey and yellow together. Don't rush, the key to getting the look is to blend it. Take your time.

3. Apply liquid eyeliner on you lash line and pencil eyeliner on the lower lash line.

4. Lastly, curl and put on layers and layers of mascara. As this look is quite dark, you need your lashes to look va-va-voom. If you can, put on fake eyelashes. I wasn't going out so I didn't. I just applied layers and layers and layers and layers of mascara. Apply mascara for the lower lashes as well.

NOTE! I only put on foundation and the rest of the makeup after I finish the eye makeup. Since this is a makeup using very dark colours, I recommend putting on foundation after the eye makeup so you look clean!
This is the final look. I wanted a asymmetrical look and hence, for my left eye, I just did a normal black/silver smokey eye makeup. For my eyebrow, I purposely draw the high point of my brow further back so that my face looks smaller. I also drew the eyebrows nearer to each other so I look like I have smaller nose than the one I have.

I opted for a nude lip at first since the eyes makeup are already so strong. I don't want my face to be over-powering by the crazy colours.

A close up of the eye makeup. Again, my lashes are visible. WOW!

Then, I remember that Raymond said he like red lip colour and so I decided to switch it up and applied my red lipstick. First, I used a lip pencil to line my lips then fill in with the pencil. After that then I put on my red lipstick and red gloss.

I guess the red lip colour gave this look a sexy feel. what do you think? ^^

The front profile of this look. I find it really fun to do these looks. After looking at the photos again, I don't think I was over doing things by changing to red lip stick. Since this is a Halloween makeup, we should go all out! YAY!

For this look, you can have two personality! On the right side, you'll be a crazy batman fan who's so obsessed with him you paint his wings on your eyes. On the left side, you'll just be any other girl going out for dinner/party. Otherwise, just do it on both sides so you look like you have a pair of bat wings!

Bat Mask Look

For this look, I tried using the logo of Batman to create a mask for my face:) So it actually looks like you're wearing a Batman Mask.
a. Use a brush and draw the outline out with a black eyeshadow. (top half of the look) I actually followed a picture that I found on google. You can find any other style you want and explore it yourself

b. Complete the whole look by outlining the whole mask out.

c. Use a pencil eyeline, draw over the outline that you'd drawn so that it's bold and more obvious.

d. Use a black eyeshadow and start colouring from the outer corners. If you've learnt colouring when you're young, this shouldn't be a problem. But, leave the eyes area clean

 e. Use a cream silver eyeshadow as a base for you eyes.

f. Then, fill it in with yellow eyeshadow.
After that, using grey and silver eyeshadows, blend everything together to give a gradient effect. Then, line your eyes with a black khol liner. Lastly, I added a pair of fake eyelashes to make my eyes pop!

 The finished look ^^

Have a wonderful Hari Raya and Happy Halloween!
