Hair & Makeup for Recess Week

I've been lazy and haven't updated as often as the last few weeks. Half of recess week has gone by and I still have so many unfinished projects to do. It's time I start rushing them as I'll be busy with tuitions and makeup assignments during the weekend. So, 1 post before I get busy again.

Just this tuesday, I created this Beach Waves and did a soft brown makeup. I was heading to school for project meeting and just felt like dolling myself up. This wave is extremely easy to DIY. You just have to separate your hair into 6-8 vertical sections depending on how much hair you have. Then twist each sections and heat it with a flat iron. As I have straight hair naturally, I pinned my twists' ends on the top of my head with bobby pins so that they will cool in that shape. This allows the waves to last longer.

This is how it looks from the side. You can see that because of the colour of my hair the effect is actually quite nice. It'll be even nicer if there are highlights in my hair. I'm thinking of getting either ombre dye or highlights.

This makeup is actually inspired by Hanna from Pretty Little Liars. She always wear a soft brown makeup which I did change it a bit so that it fits my asian eyes better. Aww..how I wish I have those deep set eyes with visible brow bone.

I was feeling bored and felt like doing something for my blog. So, I created this smokey eye makeup which I paired with several different hairstyles for you to see. This is one of the common looks that my clients would request as it is not as harsh as those which are very smokey and covers the whole eyes.

Here's the Before and After comparison. You can see that I have quite a number of pimples (as my period is coming soon! :'( ) on my forehead, heavy dark eye circles, uneven skin tones and also FAT FACE! But after makeup, the pimples and dark eye circles are concealed, my skin tone is evened out and my face is contoured. My nose looks smaller too! Wonders of makeup, HOHO.

So, other than keeping your hair straight down if you have straight hair like me or leave it as curls if you have curly hair, you can also decorate it with headbands. Here are two different bling/diamond studded headband that I bought from Taiwan back in 2009.

Other than diamond studded ones, you can also use a leather ribbon headband. This would look more casual and cute!

Alternatively, you can also do a side french braid like me or a dutch braid.

Instead of just tying a normal side pony tail, you can decorate it with two knots and hold it with a rubber tie.

You can also clip two strands of hair from the side to the back to create this half up half down style.

All the above hairstyles are more casual which you can wear everyday. This messy side bun that I created is suitable for formal events when you attend wedding dinner or  D&D. If you've Like BehindTheScenes's Facebook page, you'd known that headbands are back this Fall 2012! So start rocking these cute, classy and casual headbands!

Lastly, just want to show you some tips! As the eye makeup is quite dark, I opted for a nude lip colour. However, I'm sure many of you have the habit of pursing your lips together which will cause the colour to become uneven and also make the lip lines more visible.

So, how to solve this problem? Simply use your pinky finger to even out the fine lines and lip color. There you go, as good as new:)

That's all for today! I hope you enjoyed this post:)
