My Foundation Routine
I uploaded a few pictorial tutorials but never once have I really touched on how to apply foundation. So, here it is, my own drug-store brands foundation routine. You can get these products from any local stores like Watsons or Guardian.
Back row from left to right: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles; Maybelline Mineral Power; Revlon Colorstay in 330 Natural Tan and 300 Golden Beige; Maybelline Clear Smooth Clear Stick.
Front row from left to right: Canmake Powder Foundation in 02; SBC peach color cream concealer; L'oreal Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer.
I will be demonstrating two types of foundation routine, one with the liquid foundation and the other one with the BB Stick.
Liquid Foundation

Before and After close-up shot of my face |
As you can see on the Before pic, the areas around my nose is quite red and I have little spots and pimple scars on my face. It may look quite thick on the After shot but this is going to last you through the day looking pretty.
So, how do you start? First, prime your face with L'oreal Magic Perfecting Base. It will help to minimise the appearance of the pores and also help your foundation to last longer. Then, apply the peach color concealer on the under eye to neutralise the color of your dark eye circles. There are actually many different colors of concealers that are used for different purposes. This peach color is just nice for me as i'm quite tan. You can buy one that is sold by NYX as alternative.
I mixed the foundation in the ratio of 2:1 (beige:tan) to get the correct shade for my face. I tend to start with a fairer tone as the foundation will oxidise overtime and become darker. Also, I prefer to use a brush to apply the foundation as it gives a air-brush finish. Do remember to spray some water on the foundation brush so that it doesn't take up too much of the product.
Then, apply skin color concealer on any blemishes and also the dark eye circles. I like to use my fingers to blend the concealer in as the warmth on my fingers will melt the product and makes it easier to blend.
Lastly, set your foundation with Canmake powder foundation using a brush (not the sponge) so that it doesn't look too cakey and thick.
BB Stick
It is definitely faster using the BB stick but the coverage is also not as good as the liquid foundation as seen in the picture above.
Here we go! Start by drawing the BB Stick on your face like mine then spread and blend it out with your fingers. After that just doing the same thing as before, put on the concealer and blending it with your fingers as well.
Lastly, set your foundation with Maybelline's Mineral Powder. Tap off the excess on the cover so that you don't waste it.
This is the Before and After shot. I would definitely look better if I filled in my brows and put on either mascara/eyeliner and blusher.
However, for a professional makeup, you would have to contour your face with a bronzer to give it the "3D effect".
Hope you enjoyed this post. Do note that it is not a must to apply the powder foundation at the end. I have oily skin, that's why I like to set it with powder so that it doesn't look so oily too fast.
