Up dos VS Down dos

Ever since school started I've been trying to keep up with lectures, assignments, readings, meeting with friends, blogging and of course makeup&hairstyling. I try to make it a point to style my hair at least once a week when I go to school. Despite the fact that I'm such a lazy person and queen of procrastination, I still followed what I set out for myself. To me, hairstyling is a skill that you have to constantly practice so that you don't just rusty with it. It's not like cycling, once you get it means you get it. Furthermore, there's just too many styles and types of hairstyles that are appearing everyday. I just subscribed to Pinterest (you can follow me here)where I can find so many different pictures of makeup and hairstyles from. It's so inspirational and make me want to try them out.

I also make sure that I visit youtube to check out what the other makeup and hairstyling gurus are up to everyday. It's so cool that I can received so much information from the internet and these social sites. It's amazing!

I guess I'll try my best and not be lazy. If I have the time I would create the tutorials for it as well. Some styles are so easy to DIY that if you're not lazy like me, you can rock the style everyday if you want!

So, back to the title of this post. Do you prefer updos or down dos? I'm sure many Singaporeans would prefer updos due to the humid and hot weather. But more often than not, I see them only tying a boring ponytail. There are so many variations a ponytail can have. (I am definitely guilty of tying a ponytail most of the time) So, I was thinking I can probably create a few styles with a simple ponytail:)

Week 3's updo (this week)
This is a braided sock bun and this style is all over Pinterest. This updo is awesome for school especially if you have to travel to and fro within the school. For me, I have some modules conducted at uTown and also FASS on the same day. It's worse on Friday where my module is held at Angsana (so far!!!!) Basically, this styles keeps the hair out of the way and I won't feel too hot with the hair resting on my shoulders.

Week 2's down do.
This is a double waterfall twist where I combined two waterfall twists and ended it with a normal braid. I included an amateur youtube video that I did for the waterfall twist below. It's not that clear as I use my webcam to record it. This particular hairstyle was actually inspired by another youtube tutorial I watched. It's by letsmakeitup2. She's AWESOME! Though her hair is super long and some of the styles I might not be able to pull off, I just love how creative she is!

Week 1's down do.
This fishtail braid was picked up while watching youtube videos as well but I added a little trick inside so the overall look of the braid is nicer from all angles. The usual fishtail braid you see online and anywhere else (haha, exaggerate) has this distinct part between the two sections from the back which sometimes causes a hole to be visible. But mine is pleasant looking from 360 degrees. heeheehee. In any case, I always thought this was a very common type of braid as I remember seeing it on my Malay female classmates when I was in primary school. I was always wondering how they can get that small and cute little strands of hair instead of the normal french or dutch braid where the sections are a lot bigger and chunky. Well, wonders of youtube and some improvisation on my side:)

Attaching this video if you would like to know how to get a waterfall twist.

I will try to find more inspiration and also time to create these hairstyles. It's so much more exciting than school which is forever mundane and filled with super dry theories...theorists, can you stop creating theories? my brain is only this small, the capacity is seriously very limited no matter what the research says. HAHA

Enjoy the rest of the week!
