National Day inspired creative makeup
I remember I used to be very excited whenever National Day was approaching. During primary and secondary school days, teachers would always teach us how to sing the different national day songs like Home, Stand up for Singapore and etc during music lessons. It always felt very happy that we're celebrating our Nation's birthday. For my secondary school, we even had singing competition and various performances lined up. I was even the emcee for almost 3 or 4 National Day celebration in CCHY (I can't remember exactly how many is it but I started in Sec1).
I don't remember since when did National Day just became any other public holiday for me. JC? Probably so... However, last year was already a different one and also one of the most memorable one for me. NUSSU Rag 2012 held at Promontory as one of NDP celebrations by the bay. It was very exciting and tiring of course but nonetheless the experience was satisfying and I really had a great sense of achievement for putting up such a big event with my Rag committee.
Recently, I got addicted to youtube videos, be it makeup tutorials, hairstyling tutorial, kpop videos etc. Some of those that I watched were makeup tutorials for the US independence day. They were all so patriotic and excited about it and I thought I can also do something for my nation's 47th birthday:)
Take note that this is a creative makeup, not one that you can wear everyday. It is exaggerating, I must say.
I like to keep my hair away from my face when I apply my makeup. Actually, I keep my hair to the back even when I'm home not putting on makeup. Sorry for the cut off caption in pic 2.
I had already applied primer on my face and with the Laura Mercier Pink Chiffon cream eyeshadow, I used it as a base and applied it all over my lids. Then, I used Revlon white eyeliner and drew it all over my lids like the last pic and I thought I looked like a clown putting on makeup.
Then I set the white eyeliner with my coastal scents white eyeshadow and blended it with a fluffy brush to smooth out the edge. With the red eyeshadow from the same palette and the mac eyeshadow, I applied it on my lids till the double eyelid or wherever is visible when you open your eyes.
One thing that I wish to emphasize here is this Maybelline gel liner. It is simply awesome! It applies so smoothly and stays for so long without smudging. It's affordable and works really well.
I always blend my concealer with my finger as the warmth in my fingers would be able to melt the concealer faster and also allows it to be absorbed into my skin better.
Sorry for the cut off caption in pic2 as well. I was just trying to say that only one side has fake eyelash.
Just some photos I took after arranging my hair properly and putting on a red dress like our flag:)
I added in two little stars on the right side of my face. You can also put on Singapore's flag stick-on tattoo.
If you're so lucky to be attending NDP this year, try this makeup! It'll be so fun! Show some love for our lovely little red dot, our home!
Also, this year's NDP theme song:)
Enjoy!
